Large family portrait
1940/42, oil on canvas,
Painting gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna

A painted family biography in which the variety of brilliant colours represents the individuality of the various people. The pyramidic construction of the group is reminiscent of Caravaggio's Madonna of the Rosary, which served Boeckl as inspiration. This belongs to Boeckl's period of inner withdrawal and self-isolation, during the Second World War.
