Boeckl played a considerable part in the new beginning of the
Modern Period in Austria after 1945, by further developing, even surmounting,
the expressionist style. The "spiritual element in painting" became of paramount
value to him. "Above all, it is the awareness that the form of painting represents
an allegory of the form and patience of the human soul."
